Transportation in Portonovo

Portonovo's transport scene is compact and walkable, with local buses and taxis covering the rest. Buses run frequently along the coastal road and up to the old town; they're cheap and the drivers still give change. But exact coins speed things up. Taxis are the comfort option, plentiful at ranks near the marina and train station, and a splurge only if you're crossing the whole bay. No metro, no tram, so plan on your feet plus one of these two. First-timers should know the bus system is cash-only and stops are marked by small blue signs, easy to miss if you're scanning for big shelters. Skip the unofficial "tourist shuttles" that loiter near the ferry dock. They circle the scenic route and cost triple the regular bus. If you land at Portonovo's small regional airport, the public bus (line A) meets every arrival and drops you downtown in about twenty minutes, cheap and direct. Miss it and the official taxi queue outside is your fallback. Agree on the metered fare before you load your bags.
